Moment of Righting

collection: Art Gallery of Greater Victoria

Artist’s note: “Boat with fine-detailed interior, modeled on artist’s existing vessel. Boat is heeled to 15 degrees, while gimbaled cooking stove and towels remain perfectly horizontal, as in a real boat. The concept is to create a situation in which the viewer questions which condition is correctly aligned horizontally and vertically.”
